About Me

Dr. Asalatha P. K. completed her M.Sc. in Zoology from Kannur University Mananthavady Campus . Following her post-graduation, she worked as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), Wayanad, under the RET (Rare, Endangered and Threatened) Plants Conservation Project from 2011 to 2014, gaining valuable experience in biodiversity conservation, field research, and ecological studies.

She was awarded the Ph.D. in Zoology by Kannur University in 2019 under the guidance of Dr. P. K. Prasadan. Her doctoral research, titled Taxonomy and Diversity Studies on Spiders in the Western Ghats–Malabar Region, focused on the taxonomy, diversity, distribution, and ecological significance of spider fauna in the Western Ghats–Malabar region.

She joined Sree Gokulam Arts and Science College, Balussery, in 2020 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology and continues to serve the institution. In addition to her teaching and research responsibilities, she serves as the National Service Scheme (NSS) Programme Officer, Academic Coordinator and AISHE Coordinator of the college. She actively contributes to academic planning, student development initiatives, extension activities, and community engagement programmes.

Her areas of interest include spider taxonomy, biodiversity conservation and environmental studies. She has published research papers in national and international journals and is dedicated to promoting scientific inquiry, environmental awareness, social responsibility, and research aptitude among students.
